Michael Patterson, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Are you having a hard time coping with a traumatic event and need help moving forward?

Traumatic experiences can take hold of our thoughts every day, and can lead to a less than optimal sense of well-being in your day-to-day life. My goal is to help you cope with, understand, and get to a point where you don’t feel trapped in your trauma.

Do you find it challenging communicating with your child or teen, and feel like things are only getting worse in your relationship?

Family counseling can be tremendously helpful in bridging the gap, and getting a greater understanding of your young one’s needs. Communication is key, and there are a number of evidence-based practices that I use to guide you in improving communication and the overall relationship with your young one. My experience has taught me that the biggest piece to a child’s success is parental/family involvement in therapy.

Does your mind seem to be always on the go?

I help keep my clients in the positive present, and develop their understanding of how thoughts impact feelings, and how feelings subsequently impact behaviors. With evidence-based practices put in place, you can find a way to be at peace and live your life how you want to.

My therapeutic approach can be best described as mindfulness cognitive behavioral therapy. I am very passionate about helping others, and find meaning in taking a strengths-based and optimistic approach with my clients. I strive to meet my clients where they are, and to teach them that they indeed have the power to change.

My areas of expertise include:

  • Trauma
  • ADHD
  • ODD
  • Anxiety/Depression
  • Family Counseling

In addition to clients who are private pay, I am in-network with the following insurance:

  • Aetna
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • Tricare
  • United Healthcare
