Do you often feel weighted down by feelings of anxiety?

Although I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) most often, I utilize many forms of therapy that are well-suited to work with anxiety. Therapy addresses the source of the anxiety, and includes a self-reflective process that helps people understand, unravel, and transform anxiety.  When anxiety levels rise, having healthy coping skills can be key.

Are you or a loved one struggling with issues related to sexual orientation or gender identity?

If so, you may find the social stigma of living as a minority, or questions related to LGBTQ+ issues as a source of stress or anxiety.  I have over 25 years of experience specializing in work within the LGBTQ+ community.  When seeking therapy for concerns related to mental health or one’s sexual, romantic, or gender identity, finding a qualified mental health professional who has experience and familiarity with the challenges members of the LGBTQ+ community often face can be critical to successful therapy outcomes.

Do you feel sad or empty? Are you having trouble dealing with daily stresses?

When you are struggling with depression, sometimes the simplest activities- getting out of bed, bathing, and dressing can feel impossible.  Such struggles might make people feel helpless or alone. Even when something good happens, depression can cast a cloud of negativity over the experience.  I can help you gain insight, and learn new ways of coping that will stop depression in its tracks. I can help you overcome obstacles to your well-being. Our work together can increase positive feelings, such as compassion and self-esteem. You will learn skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching goals. Many find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware.

I have over 25 years of experience in the field of counseling. I am eclectic, and use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Reality Based, and Psychoeducation to individuals ages 5 and up.
