I am a doctorly prepared, ANNC board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who brings over 22 years of nursing experience and one-year post-doctoral residency training to assist with your mental health. In 2016, I started the Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP program at the Medical University of South Carolina. During this time, I completed over 1,160 clinical hours treating various mental health disorders. I graduated in 2020 and transitioned to a one-year residency/post graduate training program at the Charleston, SC VA Medical Center affiliated with MUSC. During this residency, I practiced as a Nurse Practitioner where I treated Veterans with PTSD, ADD/ADHD, substance use disorders, severe and persistent mental disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustments disorders, sexuality issues, sexual orientation and gender identity issues, psychotic disorders, and personality disorders. I have experience with telemedicine, treating patients in outpatient clinics and inpatient hospital settings. Specially, I perform psychiatric evaluations for the treatment and diagnosis of adult mental health and substance use disorders for possible medication management, laboratory and diagnostic monitoring, individual psychotherapy, provider referrals, patient education and development of treatment plans with my patients and continued follow up care as necessary. My approach is holistic, considering mind/body/spirit and complementary/alternative therapies. I utilize a patient-centered approach in my practice by considering you and myself as a partnership or team, working and collaborating on the best treatment plan to create the best outcomes for you to live your best life. I am your coach and cheerleader. I view you as an individual, affirming your personal beliefs, and preferences. I’m an advocate of the LGBTQ+ community and their friends.
